Introduction to the poem: I actually wrote this poem on
August 18, 2014 - a wet and rainy day during our family's third summer at the
Dorje Denma Ling Family Camp in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia, Canada. I recently re-discovered the handwritten poem
and remembered that I had been asked to share it . Here is the transcribed and slightly updated
version. I couldn't help but update a few of the words - a scribe is never truly finished revising - it is all a work in progress)...
Finding play when it's nice is
easy
so many things to choose
but when the weather's not so nice
the chance in mine to lose
so many things to choose
but when the weather's not so nice
the chance in mine to lose
I find play catching drizzle
or dancing in the rain
I make music in the puddles
or sing to a hurricane
or dancing in the rain
I make music in the puddles
or sing to a hurricane
I can find play in the faintest breeze
and in the gale that blows
there is fun to find in whatever comes
be it hail or rain or snow
and in the gale that blows
there is fun to find in whatever comes
be it hail or rain or snow
There's no secret to finding play
it lives wherever I happen to be
the weather will do what the weather will do
but I do have control over me
it lives wherever I happen to be
the weather will do what the weather will do
but I do have control over me
All for me for now - Take gentle care,
Sue & family
